For a PMP scheduling question, find the critical path by following the longest-duration dependency path through a simple project network. Calculate total float as late start minus early start, or late finish minus early finish. In a basic unconstrained network, critical activities have zero total float. Real constraints can change that result.
Exam guideFor PMP earned-value questions, calculate CPI as EV ÷ AC, SPI as EV ÷ PV, CV as EV − AC and SV as EV − PV. EV is the budgeted value of completed work, AC is its actual cost and PV is the budgeted value planned by that date. Interpret the result before choosing a project action.
Exam guideYou’re eligible to take the PMP exam when your education, professional project-management experience and training meet a PMI eligibility route. Current experience requirements range from two to five years, depending on your education. Experience must fall within the last 10 years, and overlapping project time can’t be counted twice.
Exam guideThe PMP exam changed in July 2026 to place more weight on business outcomes and applied judgment. The current exam has 180 questions, 240 minutes and two 10-minute breaks. People accounts for 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. Use the current outline rather than an old question-count or weighting chart.
Exam guideYou’re better placed to take the PMP exam when you can explain unfamiliar mixed questions, maintain pace through long timed work and cover the current outline without repeated gaps. Readiness needs several pieces of evidence. A single mock score or an app estimate cannot guarantee a pass.
Exam guidePMI does not publish a universal percentage you need to pass the PMP exam. Its passing standard is set through psychometric analysis, so a practice score such as 70%, 75% or 80% is not an official pass mark. Use practice scores to guide study, not to certify your result in advance.
Exam guidePredictive project management plans work against defined scope and approved baselines. Agile approaches deliver and learn through short feedback cycles when requirements can change. Hybrid work combines approaches to suit the project. On the PMP exam, identify the context before choosing how to handle a decision.
Exam guideA risk is an uncertain event or condition that could affect a project. An issue is a current problem that needs action. On the PMP exam, check whether the event might happen or has already happened, then choose a response that fits its state, impact and owner.
Exam guideFor PMP study, know Scrum’s three accountabilities and what each event is for. The Product Owner is accountable for product value and backlog management, Developers create the usable Increment and plan Sprint work, and the Scrum Master supports effective Scrum. Match the problem to the right responsibility rather than treating every event as a status meeting.
